Aims & Scope

Traditional medicinal systems have provided a rich source of bioactive compounds and therapeutic concepts for centuries. This special issue aims to bring together contemporary research investigating the pharmacological, molecular, biochemical and therapeutic potential of medicinal plants.

Particular emphasis will be placed on emerging evidence concerning the anti-cancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and cytoprotective properties of phytochemicals, while also encouraging research connecting traditional medicinal knowledge with modern molecular and translational approaches.

We welcome Original Research Articles, Systematic Reviews, Meta-Analyses, Narrative Reviews, Scientific Communications, Short Communications and Viewpoints addressing innovative developments in traditional medicine, natural products and phytochemical therapeutics.

Key Subject Focus Areas Include:

  • Traditional medicinal systems and evidence-based validation of medicinal plants.
  • Anti-cancer mechanisms of phytochemicals, including apoptosis, cell-cycle regulation and autophagy.
  • Oxidative stress, inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction and molecular signaling in phytochemical-mediated protection.
  • Phytochemicals in drug resistance, cancer stem cells, metastasis, angiogenesis and tumor microenvironment.
  • Preclinical evaluation, nanoformulations, drug delivery and combination therapies involving natural products.

Submission & Publication Timeline

All submissions will undergo scope and quality screening. Prompt submissions will allow initial editorial assessment within 7–10 days and manuscripts meeting the required standards will proceed to external (4-8 weeks) peer review period. Final decisions will be made by the Editor-in-Chief. Please visit journal's website for details.
